British tourist, 49, dies in Magaluf after collapsing on street
Police are investigating the death of a British tourist after he collapsed in the middle of the street in Magaluf in the early hours of Monday morning.
The 49-year-old was discovered in the town’s Martin Ros Street near the Punta Ballena strip on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
A security guard alerted local police, telling officers he had seen the man collapse and fall to the ground at around 4.30am. Attempts to resuscitate the man failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified him by the hotel wristband he was wearing and visited his accommodation to inform friends said to have been staying there.
Spanish authorities have not yet revealed the identity of the man or the name of the hotel.

An autopsy is due to be carried out in the next few hours and an ongoing investigation into the holidaymaker’s death is being led by the Civil Guard who are examining CCTV footage in the area.
A spokesman for Calvia Council, the local authority responsible for Magaluf, confirmed: “A British tourist aged 49 died in the street this morning in the Magaluf area.
“It occurred around 4.30am. The dead man was staying in a hotel in the area.
“An employee of a local establishment alerted police, saying that a man was unwell and was stumbling around in the street.
“Local police arrived and performed CPR but were unable to revive him. The Civil Guard has taken over the investigation to determine the cause of death.”
The Civil Guard are understood to be trying to track down the man’s family and friends. Spanish media has reported that police sources indicated it did not appear to be a violent death.
