This Supernatural Thriller, Starring Alaya F, Is Full Of Twists And Turns

In 2016, the Kannada film industry made a supernatural mystery horror film named U-turn and it turned out to be so successful that it led to a barrage of remakes in other Indian languages, along with a Filipino remake of the same name. U-turn became the first Indian film to be remade in the Philippines. Along with many regional languages, the film has also been released in Hindi, which stands as the seventh Indian language remake of the film. It got a Zee5 release last year on April 28. Although the film suffered from some sceptical reviews which criticized milking the same cow multiple times to no further benefit, the gripping premise and the shocking climax led U-Turn to be quite popular among the Hindi audience.

U-Turn starred Alaya F, Priyanshu Painyuli, Aashim Gulati, Manu Rishi, and Rajesh Sharma in key roles. Alaya F was particularly praised for her performance as a naive but courageous news intern caught up in a paranormal case. The film centres on drivers who shift concrete blocks from the divider to make a U-turn, leading to their mysterious deaths soon after. It follows the story of Radhika, a news intern who becomes the main suspect in a string of murders while investigating a news story. The police are investigating the case, initially believing that the deaths are suicides. As the story unfolds, Radhika discovers that a paranormal phenomenon is involved. Despite her realization, she struggles to convince others of this supernatural element.

About her character in the film, Alaya said, “The character was very very complex and interesting to play. I’m glad that all my characters have been very different from each other. It is always an interesting process to know what the character is feeling; what makes them click, what makes them happy, what makes them angry.” You can catch U-Turn on Zee5 and get a dose of intense drama, suspense and some spook.
