Plaza Premium Lounge named world’s best independent airport lounge for eight years in a row
KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): World’s first independent airport lounge operator Plaza Premium Group (PPG) said on Monday that its Plaza Premium Lounge has bagged the world's best independent airport lounge at the World Airline Awards 2024.
This is the eighth year in a row that the Hong Kong-headquartered company has walked away with the title since 2016 at the airline award hosted by Skytrax, a UK–based consultancy that runs an airline and airport review website, PPG said in a statement.
PPG said its Premium Lounge Rome at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) topped the list again from last year, while Plaza Premium Lounge in Dubai International Airport ranked fifth.
PPG founder and chief executive officer Song Hoi See said that the group has come a long way since its world's first independent airport lounge concept was introduced 26 years ago.
“Today, we operate in 80 international airports across 30 countries, with over 250 locations, and have expanded beyond just offering lounge service to providing a comprehensive 360-degree airport experience,” Song said.
Moving forward, PPG is committed to continuing to build on its excellence legacy and expand its footprint while prioritising sustainability, digitalisation and people.
“The company continues to evolve and create value for travelers, holding true to its core mission of making travel better,” it said.
PPG recently introduced a "Proudly Local" experience — immersed in the culture of a particular airport location — in six locations, including Rome, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Nagoya and Adelaide. This concept aims to cater for the cultural experience for travellers.
