Laporta ‘will make every effort’ to sign Nico for Barca this summer
Nico Williams dazzled again for Spain on Sunday at Euro 2024, scoring in a 4-1 win over Georgia that sends La Roja into the quarter-finals.
The Athletic Club star, along with Lamine Yamal, put in yet another impressive showing during a summer where he’s been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.
Reporter Achraf Ben Ayad offered an update after the game and said that Barca remain interested in Williams and will do all they can to sign him this summer.
He posted on X: “In Barcelona, they realize that the Nico deal cannot be wasted. The Athletic Bilbao player is a major target for the Catalan club in the transfer market. Laporta’s management will make every effort this summer to obtain him.”
The problem when it comes to signing Nico is of course financial. His release clause is set at around €55 million and it still looks extremely difficult for Barca to get anywhere near that as things stand.
