Guzman Y Gomez brings back beloved menu item pulled shiitake mushroom
Aussie favourite Guzman Y Gomez (GYG) has announced the return of plant-based protein pulled shiitake mushroom.
The beloved protein will now be available in all GYG stores nationally from Tuesday.
After mushrooms were pulled off the menu last year, customers and mushroom fans demanded its return.

From viral TikToks to online petitions and endless social media badgering, it was clear they wanted mushrooms back on the menu.
Now, GYG has listened and is introducing 100 per cent plant-based protein with the new pulled shiitake mushroom.
Whether vegetarian, flexitarian or looking to try something new, the meat-free masterpiece is a delicious addition to the menu.
GYG has also revealed the launch of the pulled shiitake mushroom taco, with crunchy iceberg lettuce and freshly made pico de gallo topped with tangy herb mayo on a flour or corn tortilla.

The new plant-based protein is also available at breakfast, taking the breakfast bowl or big brekkie burrito to a whole new level.
Guzman y Gomez Founder and Co-CEO Steven Marks said the obsession customers have with mushrooms is definitely noticed.
“I’ve never had so much feedback about a menu item and as always, we listened and it’s back and better than ever,” he said.
“We’ve also included Pulled Shiitake Mushroom on our brekkie menu and so guests can add it to their Brekkie burrito, or our brekkie tacos and as a side with guac on toast.”

“We know the addition of the plant-based Pulled Shiitake Mushroom on the menu is going to is going to be a real talking point for our guests especially our Pulled Shiitake Mushroom Taco with Herb Mayo, it’s a special taco build and we want everyone to try it.”
The menu is fully customisable and every order is made fresh.
The new protein is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner at all GYG restaurants.
