Bracket creep ensures wage increases feel like they are ‘amounting to absolutely nothing’
Sky News host Laura Jayes says the “centre” of the pain among Australians cost-of-living pressure is bracket creep as wage increases feel as though they are “amounting to absolutely nothing”.
“At the centre of your pain is bracket creep, wage increases feel like they are amounting to absolutely nothing,” Ms Jayes said.
“In 2022 bracket creep was worth about half the increase in personal income tax, $18 billion taken from households, this year income tax went up by $62 billion and about $25 billion of that was due to bracket creep.”
