It’s time for the next wave of basketball stars to join the NBA.
The 2024 NBA draft will begin Wednesday night as prospects will await to hear their names called by Commissioner Adam Silver and selected to join one of the league’s 30 teams. The Atlanta Hawks won this year’s draft lottery and will make the No. 1 pick for the first time since 1975.
This year’s draft will be under a new format, with the two rounds of the draft split into two days. Round one will take place Wednesday and round two will be Thursday night.

What time does the draft start and when do teams pick?
The first round begins Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET, with the first pick being made shortly after. The second round begins Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET.
During the draft, each team will have five minutes to make its selection in the first round. That number decreases to four minutes in the second round. All in all, the first round should take between three and four hours with television commercial time included.
