Huge sadness at death of Wexford mum of three who ‘was a bundle of positive energy’
The community of Gorey and Arklow have been left heartbroken following the sad passing of Ciara Bayly (née Slattery) who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 22, following an illness.
Ciara originally of Ballyarthur, Arklow, Wicklow and late of Knockmullen, Gorey was the devoted wife of Alex and loving mother of James, Archie and Alice. She was also the adored daughter of the late Gerry and Kay and sister of Niall, Shane, Eimear and Gearóid.
Her husband Alex spoke at her funeral about their wonderful life together and the many qualities Ciara possessed, describing her as loving, clever, thoughtful, insightful and great craic. “To be in her presence at a social occasion was to be guaranteed a great time,” he said.
Alex went on to say Ciara loved her work at Warren Estates and was hugely respected for it. He also thanked Wicklow Hospice and the Oncology Unit at Vincent’s Blackrock for their incredible care.
Many heartfelt tributes have been left on RIP.ie with Ciara being described by many as a beautiful person inside and out, with a big heart.
"Ciara had a presence that was impossible to forget. Such an incredible lady and so excellent at what she did in her job. She will always stand out to me as an incredible professional and a wonderful mum. Her ability to put others before herself and despite the unfair hand she was dealt she stayed so strong and inspiring. I feel privileged to have met her and to have been her and Niall’s customer and I hope friend.”
"Ciara was a bundle of positive energy, so full of fun and such a big heart. My heart hurts for Alex, James, Alice and Archie and their extended family. May happy memories bring comfort in the times to come”, read another.
Another mourner wrote: "My heartfelt condolences to Alex, James, Archie, Alice, Niall, Shane, Gearóid and Eimear. Ciara was a true friend and I will miss her kindness, wit, straight talking and sense of fun. She approached her challenges with great courage, resilience and determination, with an eye to what mattered most- her gorgeous family. May her gentle soul rest in peace, she will be missed and long remembered.”
Another tribute read: "Ciara, you were a beautiful person inside and out. You were so kind and gentle, always smiling no matter what. Your love for your family was unconditional. To Alex, James, Archie, Alice and all of Ciara's family, losing Ciara is truly heart-breaking. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be missed by many and never forgotten.”
Ciara’s funeral mass took place at St. Michael's Church, Gorey on Tuesday, June 25 followed by burial in Castlemacadam Churchyard Avoca. Her family have requested for a tree to be planted in her honour, if you wish.
She is also survived by her mother-in-law Rosemarie, brother-in-law Gearóid, sisters-in-law Rachel, Caroline, Helena, Sonja, Selina and Lucy, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and her many close friends.
