Happy Valley-Goose Bay couple grateful to return home following Friday’s explosive fire

This is this is my supper from last night. I didn’t. Our phone started blowing up and then we started seeing the fire and then before we knew it, we got evacuated and I didn’t even get a chance to finish my supper. So. There it sits. There you can see where the fire, where it started and what’s left of the building. That burnt. Good morning. I see you have a lot of animals. Yes, we have six of them. So what did you do with them when you had to back up? We loaded loaded them into two vehicles and we went down and stayed with some friends of ours last night and. They they spent the night out in the vehicles, which was very stressful for them. Of course, we’d have to go out every couple of hours so that, you know, they could use go to the washer one thing, get some water for them and whatever. So it was a stressful night for them as well As for us. Very glad to be home. You and me both very, very glad. And that everything is OK. I was so worried. I was worried about the windows. I know you’re not stressed out, but yeah, and I know we’re stressed out over nothing and everything, but stress over something just better something than nothing. Yeah. So I’m very, very grateful that. It’s all good. And that everybody else’s place up here is OK. It’s very, very sad about that building, yeah. And, and the saddest part is that the owner of that building passed away a couple months ago. Remember Ian, Mr. Strachan. And they’re having a funeral service for him today, a memorial service for Mr. Strachan. Yeah, Stored in there. Yeah. People had motor homes and boats and snowmobiles parked in there. That’s all gone. Awesome. Yeah. Yeah. And that building, that whole building with the landmark, I mean, that old tower. Your father worked there. With the Allied Aviation back in the day, aircraft mechanic back then, yeah. Yeah, there’s a lot of people that passed through that airport coming to the history. Yeah, that came to Goose Bay.
