Khune is entering the latter stages of his career with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Furthermore, the club is strongly considering offering him a position amongst their technical staff next season.

CHIEFS LEGEND KHUNE TO COACH AMAKHOSI?

As things stand, Amakhosi management are unlikely to extend Khune’s contract.

Therefore, we may very well be watching the end of an era.

He has been earmarked for a coaching role. In fact, reports indicate that Khune is considering taking up a role amongst Amakhosi’s technical staff.

“With the way things are looking at the moment, it doesn’t seem like he will be given a new contract, that is why he is thinking about taking a new role at the club, like to get into coaching in the development teams. That guy has been at the club for a very long time and his blood is gold and black, that’s why it will be difficult for him to play for another team,” the report read on Phakaaati.

HE STILL WANTS TO PLAY

Khune still wants to play the beautiful game. Moreover, he openly stated he would play until 40 if he could. However, it seems that he is entering the end of his storied career at Naturena.

“He has previously stated that he wants to play for many years and probably go until he is in his 40s,  but it doesn’t seem like it will happen, especially at Chiefs. I feel bad for him because deep inside, he wants that new contract,” he added on the same publication.
