A tradie has been warned he could be in jail until well into his 70s while fronting court over a shocking drug stash.
The extraordinary rebuke from Justice Susan Brown came after qualified carpenter Blaade Gary Vosmaer pleaded guilty at the Supreme Court on Tuesday to a raft of drug-related offences.
Vosmaer, 30, was found with drugs after being chased down by police trying to hide an electric scooter and days later more drugs were seized from his home during a police search.
He was warned he needed to turn his life around or risk staying in the court system until he was well into his 70s.
“Don’t think it doesn’t happen – I’ve sentenced a 75-year-old in this court and they started exactly the way you are,” Justice Brown said.
“Yes, Your Honour,” Vosmaer said over video link.
The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to 16 charges, including supplying dangerous drugs, obstructing police and possessing drug utensils.
Crown prosecutor Frank Maconi said Vosmaer fled from police after he was spotted trying to hide an orange electric scooter in front of a Fortitude Valley hotel on June 3 last year.
When tackled to the ground, officers found a number of drugs, including GBL and methylamphetamine, as well as drug utensils.
Six days later, police executed a search warrant at his home while he was asleep.
The court was told Vosmaer was twice caught with numerous drugs, including methylamphetamine, in June last year.Source:News Regional Media
Clip seal bags containing methylamphetamine and more restricted drugs and drug utensils were discovered.
