'You're Not That Important!' Teague Roasts Patrick Beverley
Following the Milwaukee Bucks Game 6 series-ending loss to the Indiana Pacers, Patrick Beverley sought attention by disrespecting veteran ESPN Malinda Adams during a locker room media scrum, and he got that attention.
However, instead of (or in addition to) a media member throwing shots at Beverley, the critique came from a fellow athlete, former Pacers guard Jeff Teague.
On Teague’s podcast Club 520, Teague honestly, and sometimes in self-deprecating fashion, comments on his time in the NBA. Although the show goes in and out of jokes and semi-serious content, Teague understands when to put on a serious face.
‘You’re Not That Important!’ Teague Roasts Patrick Beverley
On Club 520’s latest episode, Teague approached the Beverley shenanigans with the utmost self-awareness. Before going into a complete analysis of the situation, Teague extended a small olive branch to his former colleague, “I love Pat Bev, but I didn’t like that’, Teague said before breaking down the wrongs in Beverley’s actions.
“At the end of the day, we are just athletes,” the former Pacers guard stated.
Teague went on to explain how athletes are replaceable, even sharing self-introspective moments as he admitted the same happened to him regarding the public forgetting his time in the league. “There is no reason to be a d******* to anybody,” Teague said, exuding genuine frustration. Teague claimed there is no reason to treat anyone with such disrespect, regardless of status.
A league-issued punishment has not been reported or implied by the NBA for the two incidents placing Beverley at the center of conflict – the other one being him throwing a ball at a female fan.
Beverley – a free agent this summer – is known as an “instigator.” And in this case, as Teague seems to be acknowledging, it’s not a compliment.
