Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton continues to hit logic-defying home runs

New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton is about as volatile as can be at the plate but when he hits them, he really hits them.

Having hit home runs in back-to-back games, Stanton continues to put on a unique show that defies logic.

During the Yankees’ 9-4 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday night, Stanton’s solo home run in the third inning came off the bat at 119.9 miles per hour.

It was the hardest-hit ball of the season thus far.

The night prior, Stanton hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. At that point, it was the hardest-hit home run of the season across MLB. What’s interesting about this home run was the launch angle.

That home run came off the bat at a launch angle of 15 degrees. The average launch angle of a base hit in the American League this season is 14 degrees. Stanton hit a ball so hard that it would have been a base hit for any other player.

But for him, it turns into a trip around the bases.
