Xbox handheld console teased by Microsoft in new survey for fans
Is this the future of Xbox? (Picture: Metro.co.uk)
Microsoft is very interested to know what fans think about the idea of a portable Xbox device, similar to the Switch, according to a new survey.
Although nothing has ever been officially announced, there’s no secret about the fact that Xbox is interested in making a portable console, similar to Steam Deck and/or Nintendo Switch.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has made clear his interest on multiple occasions and there are rumours that Microsoft is already testing a new hybrid device, that may be the primary form of their next gen format due for release in 2026.
Despite their interest though, it appears that Microsoft hasn’t fully committed to the idea yet, although a new survey sent out to certain fans in the US suggests they are getting very close to making a decision.
The extensive survey asks questions like how likely you are to buy a ‘new handheld gaming PC’ within the next three to five years, and whether you already own devices like the Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, or Asus ROG Ally.
There’s then questions about whether you use Xbox Game Pass on any of your handhelds, how often you use handhelds compared to home consoles or PCs, and how important streaming on a handheld is to you.
According to Windows Central, the survey then encourages you to write a lengthy description about what you think about PC-based handhelds and how you use them.
