A woman is fighting for life after she was crushed by a large tree in a freak accident during stormy weather in Western Australia’s South West region.
The 59-year-old woman was driving a Toyota HiLux utility along the Vasse-Yallingup Siding Rd near Quindalup when the tree toppled onto the roof of the vehicle about 5pm on Monday.
The woman was rushed to Busselton Health Campus, having suffered a large cut to her head and a broken jaw, police said.
She was later flown to Royal Perth Hospital where she remains in a critical condition in the intensive care unit, a spokeswoman told NCA NewsWire.

A strong cold front crossed the southern part of WA on Monday night, with wind gusts reaching more than 100km/h.
Bluff Knoll, which is the highest peak in the Stirling Range near Albany, even received a thin dusting of snow.
At one point during the stormy weather, several thousand homes and businesses were without power.
Almost 100 calls for assistance were also made to the State Emergency Service.
In Perth, there was some flooding seen on Riverside Drive in the CBD on Tuesday.
The City of Perth said both lanes had to be closed for some time due to water inundation.
Some people also reported hail in their backyards but the overall rainfall totals were not huge.
