Kidnapped New York man found alive with eyes taped shut in Mexican jungle

A kidnapped New York man with a home in Mexico was found with his eyes taped shut and bound by his ankles and wrists in a remote Mexican jungle, officials said.

Joseph Constantine Buonincontri, 35, was located in a straw hut deep in the Limones wilderness, according to the Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office.

He had been kidnapped three days earlier from his house in Limones, a remote town nearly 200 miles southwest of Cancún.

Buonincontri told authorities that he had been abducted “by unknown people,” Mexico News Daily reported, citing local outlets Reforma and Sipse.

He was found Tuesday after a search party of soldiers was alerted by locals to a taxi from Tulum filled with armed men driving through an “opening” in the jungle next to a highway.

The hut, with Buonincontri bound inside, was just 325 feet from where the taxi was seen, according to reports.

The captors had fled by the time Buonincontri was rescued, but they reportedly left behind traces of marijuana, a tactical vest and AR-15 rifle magazines.

The kidnappers had reportedly sought a $200,000 ransom for the New York man, who didn’t sustain any serious injuries.

The US State Department did not immediately respond to messages left by The Post.
