Wicklow’s Beyond the Pale Festival schedule announced with Orbital set for big return

The tantalising day-by-day schedule for this year’s Beyond The Pale Festival has been announced, with 11 newly added acts, including iconic electronic music duo Orbital.

Renowned for their legendary audiovisual live shows, pioneers of the electronic music genre, Paul and Phil Hartnoll, will return to Glendalough Estate for the second time this summer, following their headlining performance at the inaugural festival in 2022, which the industry stalwarts labelled “one of the best festivals we’ve ever played”.

Although Orbital will be replacing previously billed Soulwax, who have cancelled their June tour, fans of the Belgian electronic collective need not fret, as Soulwax’s alter ego act ‘2ManyDJs’ will be pumping out the tunes at the festival, which takes place from June 21 to 23.

Joining the Hartnolls on this year’s blockbuster line-up will be recently confirmed acts Houseplants, Royel, Otis, Kara Jackson, Lemoncello, Shark School, Chris Wilson DC, Prymary Colours present Love Ball, Sing Along Social, Glasshouse Ensemble presents The Velvet Underground and Essiray.

A live electronic collaborative project by Paul Noonan (of Bell X1) and Daithí, Houseplants have sold out their Irish tour this week and recently launched a brilliant new album, while Royel Otis, a formidable guitar-pop act from Australia, are making waves with their recent debut album.

Kara Jackson, a highly acclaimed Chicago folk singer/songwriter, is expected to wow, along with Irish acts Lemoncello, Chris Wilson DC, Shark School, Prymary Colours present Love Ball, Sing Along Social, Glasshouse Ensemble presents The Velvet Underground and Essiray.

Kicking off on Friday, June 21, funk soul maestros and recent BRIT Award winners Jungle will headline the opening night of BTP (their only Irish date this summer), with multi-Mercury Prize winner and six-time BRIT nominee Jessie Ware headlining Saturday and YouTube sensation Marc Rebillet closing out the show as only he can on Sunday.

Beyond The Pale 24’ will also feature Grammy-nominated ‘The xx’ front-woman Romy and techno icon Richie Hawtin. Legendary Scottish writer Irvine Welsh will perform at what he calls his “favourite festival in the world”, alongside Canada’s Alvvays, Courtney Barnett, a first-ever Irish festival appearance for Thievery Corporation and the debut of Obongjayar of ‘Adore You’ fame.

A diverse range of high-quality Irish acts includes The Scratch, Gilla Band, John Francis Flynn, DJ David Holmes, Rachael Lavelle, Ailbhe Reddy, 49th and Main, Elaine Mai and Mai Kai and The Redneck Manifesto.

Three-day tickets start at €229, and the festival offers on-site camping, luxury glamping and on-site parking.
