Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa isn’t going to hold out for a new contract this offseason.
Tagovailoa told Adam Beasley that he plans to attend voluntary practices (OTAs) this spring. He’ll then be at minicamp later on.
The Dolphins and Tagovailoa are expected to talk about an extension soon after ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported in March that the Dolphins are “dedicated” to signing Tagovailoa.
Tagovailoa led the Dolphins to the playoffs and had the best season of his career in 2023, completing 69.3% of his passes for 4,624 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He was also a major reason why the Dolphins made the playoffs in 2022 even though he missed some games.
The 2024 season is set to be his fifth NFL season and the Dolphins have liked what he’s done to start his career.
It’s not known what number he’s looking for on his next contract but he’s going to get handsomely paid whenever he agrees to a deal.
So far, he’s completed 66.9% of his passes for 12,639 yards and 81 touchdowns in just four seasons. If he takes another step forward, the Dolphins could be a Super Bowl contender for this season and years to come.
