WHERE is ex-Kaizer Chiefs cult hero Knowledge Musona now?

Knowledge Musona became a cult figure at Kaizer Chiefs for his clinical ways in front of goal. Where is the veteran Zimbabwean now?

Where is former Kaizer Chiefs star Knowledge Musona?

Now skippering Al Riyadh in the Saudi Pro League after a successful stint with Al Tai, Knowledge Musona is believed to be earning R10 million annually, even in the twilight years of his career. According to the Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, in 2020, Musona was earning around R18.85 million per year without bonuses. Musona, often deployed as an attacking midfielder for Al Tai, scored eight goals and provided nine assists in 29 Saudi Arabia Pro League appearances before earning another big move to Al Riyadh.

A player reborn, as important as ever

Musona was always known for his all-round game as a facilitator and taker of chances of a pitch. However, he earned his stripes primarily as a goal-scorer for Chiefs and Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. Now in the twilight of his career, he’s operating in a more withdrawn midfield role with four goals and an assist in 20 Saudi Pro League appearances this term. Al Riyadh find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle this season, only two points clear of the drop-zone with five games to play. Their next two matches are against top-seven opposition in the shape of Al Fateh and Al-Taawoun. However, they face rock-bottom Al-Hazm on matchday 32 which could be a pivotal moment in the fight to avoid the dreaded drop. Pitso Mosimane’s Abha side are also in the thick of it at the bottom.

Musona’s Chiefs stint was short and sweet

In two years for the senior Kaizer Chiefs side, Knowledge Musona was a menace for defenders. He scored 40 times and made 13 assists in 88 appearances for the Glamour Boys. That’s a remarkable scoring ratio. Everywhere his career has taken him, the 33-year-old has scored goals, whether it was South Africa, Germany, Belgium or Saudi Arabia.
