When will it stop raining in New South Wales?
National weather forecast for Friday May 3.
The beginning of the end of autumn is well underway across Australia, and it has brought with it a steady bout of wet weather.
A three-day soaking has just started in NSW, with rain and thunderstorms set to spread across most of the state.
If you’re wondering when there’s supposed to be a break on the horizon, here’s what the expert meteorologists are saying.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s 7-day forecast for NSW is showing a chance of showers until Thursday next week, with the biggest impact set for the next few days.
On Saturday, a rain system is expected to cover nearly the entire state, with the rainfall centred on the central west and Sydney regions.
Saturday could see up to 35 mm of rain around Sydney, doubling the next day with up to 60mm forecast.
On Sunday, the storm should shift eastward, bringing more intense rainfall to the coast.
Widespread rainfall between 20 to 40 mm is likely across the state over the next three days, meteorology service Weatherzone said.
Some places along the NSW coast could see more than 100 mm by early next week, most likely around the Sydney and Illawarra regions.
Next week drier weather will return to the rest of the state, though rain will likely continue along the coast.
The wild weather also has the potential to bring severe thunderstorms and flooding.
Surf conditions across the state could be hazardous, with the BoM warning that rock fishing and swimming might not be safe.
