mohammed shami responds to pm modi’s ‘speedy recovery’ wish after achilles tendon surgery
Mohammed Shami has been out of action since the ODI World Cup 2023. The pacer picked up an ankle injury after the gala event and missed the following Test series against South Africa and England. Shami provided a massive update on his injury and revealed that he underwent an operation on his Achilles Tendon in the UK. Shami’s huge reveal has almost confirmed his absence from the upcoming IPL 2024.
As soon as Shami updated fans about his surgery, he got a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi who wished Shami good health and speedy recovery.
“Wishing you a speedy recovery and good health, @MdShami11! I’m confident you’ll overcome this injury with the courage that is so integral to you,” Ashwin wrote.

Shami responded to PM Modi and thanked him for warm wishes and support.
“It was such a wonderful surprise to receive a personal note from Prime Minister Narendra Modi sir wishing me a speedy recovery. His kindness and thoughtfulness truly mean a lot to me. Thank you so much Modi sir , for your well wishes and support during this time. I will continue to work hard towards my recovery, Thank you all for your continued wish,love and support,” he replied.
Not just IPL, Shami could also miss the T20 World Cup 2024. As per the Hospital for Special Surgery, an athlete who undergoes surgery on the Achilles tendon could take six to nine months before returning to peak fitness thus Shami’s chances of featuring in the T20 World Cup are slim. Also, with no cricket for nearly a year, the selectors will be hesitant to pick him in the squad even if he completes a remarkable recovery.
