Tributes paid to Cork woman described as a ‘gentle soul’ who died unexpectedly

Tributes have been paid to Rylane woman and “gentle soul” Eileen Kelleher who died unexpectedly at Cork University Hospital on Saturday, February 24.

Eileen (nee O’Sullivan), who will be missed by her beloved husband Michael and her loving wider family and large circle of friends, was known to many in Macroom from her work as a salesperson at Macroom Tool Hire & Sales.

The business took to Facebook on Monday to pay tribute to its former employee, who was remembered as a “friend to us all”.

“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our friend and colleague, Eileen, who was a valued member of the Macroom Tool Hire & Sales Team since 2016,” the business said.

“Not only was she our colleague, but she was a friend to us all and will be missed beyond measure.”

Tributes to Eileen were also paid in a book of condolences on her death notice on RIP.ie.

“Sincere sympathy to all the family. May her gentle soul rest in peace,” said one person.

“Sincere sympathy to Michael, James and Mary and all the O’Sullivan family on the loss of your beautiful wife and sister Eileen. Many happy years we spent together in Coachford community college. May she rest in peace,” another poster wrote.

“Eileen was such a great person and will be so missed by all that knew her . Condolences to Michael and the Sullivan Kelleher families. May she rest in peace,” said another.

Eileen’s remains will be reposing in St Olan’s Church, Rylane on Tuesday, February 27 from 6.00pm with prayers at 8.00pm.

Requiem Mass will be held for Eileen on Wednesday, February 28 at 2pm and can also be viewed online at www.munsterfunerallivestream.ie/eileen-kelleher-osullivan-rylane.
