Geologist Ian Plimer slams the latest government consideration regarding plans for the Great Artesian Basin.
This follows public concerns amid Glencore’s plan to inject liquefied carbon dioxide into Australia’s largest groundwater basin – The Great Artesian Basin.

“We already know when liquid carbon dioxide … under pressure, explodes like a bomb,” Mr Plimer said.
He recalled an incident in 1986, where carbon dioxide exploded from a crater in Cameroon where “1746 people were asphyxiated”.
“We’re going to save the planet by destroying it,” he joked.
