Beyoncé snub DENIED by Oklahoma radio station after fan claimed they purposely barred star's new country tracks from airing in viral post

Beyoncé, 42, released two new country singles, Texas Hold 'Em & 16 Carriages A social media user on Tuesday said radio station KYKC declined to play song KYKC said it didn't have tracks, but have since received and are playing them

Beyoncé’s foray into country music has led to a controversy, after a Oklahoma radio station initially declined a listener request to play the singer’s new track Texas Hold ‘Em, leading to temporary confusion before the situation was handled.

A Twitter user under the handle @jussatto on Tuesday said that the Ada, Oklahoma-based country music station KYKC had declined their request to play her new single Texas Hold ‘Em (which she released Sunday along with the track 16 Carriages).

‘I requested Texas Hold ‘Em at my local country radio station (KYKC) and after requesting, i received an email from the radio station stating “We do not play Beyoncé on KYKC as we are a country music station,”‘ the social media user said, along with a screenshot of the reply they received from the radio station.

The user added: ‘This station needs to be held accountable for their blatant racism and discrimination against Beyoncé.’

The posts garnered multiple responses from Beyoncé fans upset with the purported exclusion.

The Twitter user subsequently told TMZ that their initial request to the station read: ‘Please play the new song, Texas Hold ‘Em by Beyoncé,’ adding they believed that the station should have been aware Beyoncé was set to release new music in the country genre after a widely-publicized reveal Sunday.

A rep for the station told TMZ Tuesday that the reason they haven’t played the songs – Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages – is that they have not been provided with them. Another local station, KECO, confirmed to the outlet that it had not been sent copies of the songs.

The station KYKC did ultimately receive copies of the tracks, as it told TMZ that it began playing Texas Hold ‘Em Tuesday. It tweeted a screenshot of its playlist Tuesday, acknowledging that the single was now in its rotation: ‘Lots of call coming in for Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em. It’s coming up in minutes.’

Since they were released Sunday, there has not yet been enough data for the tracks to register on the Billboard charts, but early returns from streaming services indicate they will, as early as next week.

The new tracks were revealed after a Verizon commercial starring Beyoncé aired during the Super Bowl, ending with the superstar saying, ‘They ready, drop the new music,’ the question became – was she serious?

Later, a cryptic Instagram video with country iconography appeared on her page, teasing act ii on March 29. (Beyoncé´s 2022 album Renaissance is frequently referred to as Act I: Renaissance.)

At the end of the clip, a plucky acoustic guitar riff plays, and Bey´s unmistakable voice kicks in. She sings, ‘This ain´t Texas / Ain´t no hold ´em / So lay your cards down down down,’ in a Southern twang.

It appears on her official website as well. Under the music tab, two titles were listed –  Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages, which later appeared as full songs on Tidal, YouTube and Spotify.

Texas Hold ‘Em is an uptempo country and western stomp. She sings in the earworm bridge: ‘And I´ll be damned if I cannot dance with you / Come pour some liquor on me honey, too / It´s a real-life boogie, and a real life hoedown / Don´t be a b****, come take it to the floor now.’

The second, 16 Carriages is a soulful slow-burn with ascendant organs and steel guitar, Beyoncé singing an ode to hard work and legacy.

Lyrics include: ‘I miss my kids / Overworked and overwhelmed,’ she sings in the pre-chorus. ‘Still workin´ on my life, you know / Only God knows, only God knows.’

A quick examination of the credits shows she may be working closely with Tony! Toni! Toné!’s Raphael Saadiq.

In a mostly fictional Verizon commercial that aired moments before the Instagram announcement, Beyoncé tried several tactics to try to break the internet.

With former Veep star Tony Hale playing an adviser, she opens a Lemonade stand, releases a saxophone album called Let´s Get Saxy, does her own version of the  Barbie movie called BarBey, sells a cyborg version of herself, runs for ‘Beyoncé of the United States,’ and blasts off in a rocket to become the first woman in space.

After Hale tells her none of that worked, she says on the space ship intercom, ‘OK, Bey ready: drop the new music.’

Beyoncé was also shown on the telecast soon after at Allegiant Stadium watching the Super Bowl with husband Jay-Z.

The genre stir has created some controversy, with some questioning if it is a smart career move from the musical superstar.

Musical artist Azealia Banks, 32, who has past had bad blood with Beyoncé, was critical of the career decision from the Single Ladies singer after she announced the new songs, saying she was setting up herself ‘to be ridiculed’ over the creative endeavor.

‘Ugh Bianca girl I love you down but them r&b runs over the leslie feist back beats is giving pickmesha,’ Banks said. ‘Nothing country about it. You’re seeing yourself up to be ridiculed again. There’s a theatrical element to country music!!! Them critics are not just going to accept an ugly blond wig and, bullying from jay-z !!!

‘It’s giving big time musical grift. Yes black girls can make country music… but you’re just really not hitting the button.’

She wrapped up in saying, ‘Beyoncé please stop the madness. The gay baiting, the overtly narcissistic attempts to lazily encroach into a genre *you think* your popularity is gonna gain accolades for you in… You’re looking like food sis. You will gag when k Michelle tears it.’
