Kate Beckinsale is spotted for the first time after bashing BAFTA for the 'cold' and 'distressing' message she received following stepfather Roy Battersby's death

Kate Beckinsale was spotted in public for the first time since lambasting the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for what she called a ‘cold’ and ‘heartless’ email regarding her step-father and his inclusion on the annual In Memoriam segment at the upcoming awards.

The actress, 50,  arrived at the airport in Los Angeles Saturday with a couple of assistants for what appeared to be a business trip of some sort.

The Fool’s Paradise star looked casual in a black and white plaid shirt with frayed seams. The top was unbuttoned at the bottom, giving a glimpse of her toned tummy.

The in-demand actress wore distressed low cut  jeans with tears at the knees and various graphics, accessorized by a rhinestone belt.

The 5-foot-seven star added to her height with a pair of high heel white lace up sneakers.

Her long blonde hair was styled in a high pony tail with a 50s kind of curl, accessorized with a large black bow.

Kate wore a diamond necklace and dangling earrings.

The Prisoner’s Daughter actress’ makeup looked natural with a soft pink lip and she wore large, dark sunglasses.

The grieving star recently won a small victory following the death of her step-father, Roy Battersby.

After initially being told Battersby, who passed at the age of 87, might not make it into the annual BAFTA In Memoriam tribute, the influencer announced on social media that the widely respected director would be honored for his contribution to the film and television industry.

However, the Underworld franchise star said she has not received a formal apology from the organization.

‘In lieu of an apology which is now redundant,’ she wrote on social media, ‘I would like a public and permanent assurance that BAFTA make a major change to their policy of wording emails to anyone who has been bereaved; whether that person is a DP, a sound or vVFX technician, costume department, editor, electrician, grip or carpenter, let alone someone honoured in the way Roy had been.’

Kate will next be seen in the thriller Canary Black.

According to Movie Insider, she will star as a CIA agent whose husband has been kidnapped by terrorists.

In order to save his life, she must use her underworld contacts to gather the information the bad guys want.

Saffron Burrows and Rupert Friend co-star in the thriller which was shot in Croatia.

No release date has been announced.
