Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson has called out a “total absence of political leadership” from top to bottom amid the detainee debacle.
The Albanese government has found itself under fire again after more was revealed about the immigration detainees who were released from indefinite detention due to a landmark High Court ruling last year.

Documents tabled to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee on Monday provided for the first time a breakdown of the serious crimes committed by the detainees.
The documents further revealed that 24 of the freed detainees have reoffended since they were released into the community.
“It was only through the process of Senate Estimates that were able to force the Department of Home Affairs to finally cough up this information,” Mr Paterson told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
