why tcs doesn’t support work from home: ceo k krithivasan reveals reasons as company sets march deadline for employees to resume office
In a recent Nasscom event, TCS CEO K Krithivasan reiterated the company’s unwavering commitment to discontinuing remote work, asserting that the traditional office environment remains the most effective setting for their operations. Emphasizing TCS’s dedication to bringing employees back to the office, Krithivasan articulated the belief that critical learning experiences stem from observing colleagues and superiors in action—a facet he contends cannot be adequately replicated in a remote work scenario.
Krithivasan underscored the sentiment among TCS clients, noting that a vast majority express eagerness to have their workforce return to the office, aligning with the company’s perspective that working from a centralized location is the optimal approach, as per report on TOI.
He questioned the assimilation of values and culture for the 30-40 per cent of associates who joined TCS during the pandemic, positing that physical presence in the office is integral to fostering a sense of teamwork and fellowship that virtual meetings and online platforms may not fully cultivate.
As per TOI report, highlighting the intrinsic link between individual and organizational growth, Krithivasan dismissed the efficacy of the work-from-home or hybrid model in nurturing these aspects. He stressed the company’s commitment to preserving the core values of teamwork and fellowship, qualities he believes are best cultivated through in-person interactions.
Krithivasan acknowledged that TCS, recognizing the evolving work landscape, extended the deadline for employees to return to the office by an additional quarter. The company has now set the end of March as the ultimate deadline for employees to resume on-site duties.
