You can take the man out of Ireland but you can’t take the Ireland out of the man or the woman for that matter!
Dublin football hero Jason Sherlock was left protesting his innocence after being surrounded by garda when he rocked up to the Saint Patrick’s Day parade this weekend.
Naturally enough you’d assume that Jayo was shivering alongside the sidelines of O’Connell Street or somewhere else in the Capital when he was singled out but no, he was actually thousands of miles away in New York at the time.
The GAA player shared a side-splitting funny video of himself being fangirled by our boys in blue and it might just be the best take away from this year’s festivities.

In the clip, Jason is quickly spotted by members of the guards doing their walkabout in the parade and they stop to shake hands with him.
Sure enough, more guards come over to have a chat but then things really get out of hand!
The footballer received the fangirl treatment as guards stopped him to take selfies with every glorious second caught on camera.
At one point Jason finds himself being hauled away from the spectators and ‘kidnapped’ by the guards to take part in the parade!
Not only did they drag him over the barrier but they hoisted him on their shoulders for a bit and they even found a cap for him to wear and those in the crowd were loving every minute.
One man can be heard saying in the background: ‘I’ve been coming to the parade for a long time but I’ve never seen that, that is awesome!’
The video was later posted on social media by the official Garda account who teased that: ‘Our members are never off duty.
‘An Garda Síochána’s contingent that travelled to BYC to proudly take part in today’s parade scoped out well known @officialgaa star @boomjayo in the crowd. He’s now been taken into questioning on his crimes against football!
In his defence, Jason wrote back that he is ‘innocent’ and thanked the police force for the warm welcome.
Fans back home were loving the wholesome banter with one person writing: ‘Jason took [every]thing very well from the photographs, to banter, to his lovely smile to the kidnapped. A gentleman.’
‘Good man Jayo! Just a different sort of “boy in blue” for the day. Great video. It made me laugh and smile soooo much,’ wrote another.
