watch: hawks player and coach get into heated argument

Atlanta Hawks head coach Quin Snyder.

In a surprising turn of events, Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic was caught on camera having a heated exchange with his coach, Quin Snyder, during their team’s 113-101 win over the Bulls on Monday night.

The incident — which took place on the sidelines during a timeout — was particularly shocking since the Hawks were comfortably ahead 113-96 with two minutes left in the game. As seen below, Bogdanovic initially tossed a water bottle to the floor before confronting Snyder and yelling at his coach. The two men engaged in a back-and-forth shouting match before being separated by their teammates.

However, the two would reconcile with a handshake and a hug moments later.

After the game, both Bogdanovic and Snyder addressed the bizarre incident. While Snyder didn’t get into the specifics of the exchange, he welcomed the idea of players getting animated. The Hawks coach felt that Bogdanovic showing emotions was indicative of him truly caring about the team.

Bogdanovic, meanwhile, labeled the exchange a “basketball argument” while revealing that he and Snyder routinely get into arguments not caught on camera.

“Quin is my guy, for sure,” Bogdanovic said, via Associated Press. “He was pushing me through the whole year. We have little fights. It’s normal that it happens. It’s sad that it happened on a game and on TV, so now that’s highlighted. But it’s just part of a game that we play. I think that’s normal. In our world, that’s kind of normal.”

The arguments surely haven’t deterred the Hawks from their winning ways. Snyder’s squad (35-40) has won five of its last six games and is close on the heels of Chicago (36-40) for the ninth seed in the East.
