MANILA, Philippines: Warm and humid weather brought by the easterlies will continue even until over the weekend except for isolated downpours or thunderstorms in the late afternoon or at night, the state-run weather agency said on Thursday.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it has not monitored any tropical cyclone forming or entering the country’s area of responsibility probably until the second week of the month.
The state weather bureau predicted that one to two storms would likely enter the country in May.
Aldczar said more areas would experience higher temperatures, which would mean hotter weather, including Metro Manila and Tuguegarao City where 37 degrees Celsius would be likely.
As a result, much higher heat indexes under “danger” level could be recorded in several areas with Camarines Sur in Bicol Region expected to have the highest for the day until Friday at 48 degrees Celsius followed by Pangasinan at 47 degrees Celsius and Metro Manila at 43 degrees Celsius, Pagasa said.
According to the state weather bureau, heat index is what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature.
