Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh (left) said the posting by Hezry Yasin made an ‘excessive accusation’.
PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth will lodge a police report against a member of PAS Youth whose now-deleted Facebook posting stated his attitude towards prayers for sultans and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh alleged that the posting by Hezry Yasin had insulted the king as the head of Islam in Malaysia by accusing the king of failing to make Islam a priority.
“I have asked Johor Umno Youth leaders to file a police report over this excessive accusation made by this individual. We will defend our religion, race and royalty regardless of who you are,” Akmal said.
He posted an image of the posting by Hezry, who is Selangor PAS Youth assistant secretary.
Hezry purportedly said he had lowered his hands at Friday prayers in Johor when prayers were being made for the sultans, king and their families.
He said he was not being seditious. “Those who are willing, go ahead with the prayer, but for those who do not wish to do so, that is our right.”
However, he said he wanted a leader who is outspoken in defending Islam rather than one who remained quiet and allowed the people to be “condemned, insulted and ridiculed” while defending Islam.
The posting appears to have been deleted.
