Former Queensland premier Campbell Newman says he has called for Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll to “really stand up and show leadership” as the state faces a continuous youth crime wave.
‘Stand up and show leadership’: Qld Police Commissioner faces rank and file ‘rumblings’
Mr Newman pointed to a report stating “rumblings in the senior ranks” against the Commissioner as her workforce has begun to express “great dissatisfaction”.
“Down in the rank and file, there’s people on stress leave, people not being able to turn up to work,” he told Sky News Australia host Steve Price.
“There is also great dissatisfaction about the backup they are being given from the top brass.
“This has to be sorted out … Queenslanders want the real crime issue dealt with.”
