Virat Kohli’s strike-rate debate: Former India all-rounder shuts down trolls criticising RCB star
NEW DELHI: Will Jacks’ sizzling maiden century, alongside Virat Kohli’s fiery fifty, propelled the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a dominant nine-wicket win over the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League on Sunday.
Opener Virat (70 not out) and Jacks (100 not out) established a 166-run partnership for the undefeated second wicket, effortlessly surpassing the 201-run target with 24 balls remaining.
RCB finished with a total of 206 for 1 in 16 overs.
Virat’s innings included three sixes and six fours, boasting a strike rate of 159.09.
Despite his strong performance, Virat’s batting strike rate has been a big topic of debate and criticism since the start of IPL 2024.
After the match, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan came out in support of Virat. Taking to to his social media account Pathan wrote: “Ppl keep talking about Virat Kohli’s strike rate but they forget the fact that he is striking close to 150 with orange cap on his head is a marvelous effort”.
RCB, after two back-to-back wins, have 6 points in 10 matches.
RCB will next face Gujarat Titans once again on May 4.
