DUBAI, 18th February, 2024 (WAM) — Belarus moved on to six points from a possible six with a Mikhail Avgustov-inspired 3-1 win over Japan.
Mikhail Avgustov produced one of the performances of UAE 2024 Dubai™ as Belarus beat Japan to make it two wins from two at UAE 2024 Dubai™. The goalkeeper saved a penalty, made another breathtaking save and scored.
An Ivan Kanstantsinau own-goal put Japan ahead, but Ihar Bryshtsel equalised with a brilliant bicycle kick. Takuya Akaguma then craftily won a penalty, only for Avgustov to repel it.
The Belarus goalkeeper then slammed home a sumptuous volley to put the Europeans in front. Then, when Yusuke Kuwai spilled Avgustov’s shot, Artsemi Drozd was on hand to stab it home.
