Based on the country's success in controlling COVID-19, which gains great applause from the international community, as well as the good outcome of the Doi Moi (Renovation) process, especially the 13th Party Congress organization, Vietnam will continue to gain new achievements in all fields.

Closely watching the country's development, Former Vice President of the Vietnamese Association in France Nguyen Thanh Tong stated that it was the careful and meticulous preparation in all aspects that brought the 13th Congress success despite the ranging COVID-19.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tong affirmed that overseas Vietnamese believed in the success of the 13th Congress. Looking back over the last 90 years, the Communist Party has led the Vietnamese people to many glorious historical achievements. According to Tong, since its birth, the Party has always shown its creative spirit, come up with innovative decisions that do not fall in line with cliché standards is crystallized from the solidarity of the entire nation.

Tong emphasized: "I believe that in the "grey sky" covering the global economy in 2020, Vietnam emerges as a proud spot. As said by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has never possessed such a solid position and structure. I am greatly proud of the homeland and believe that the nation will reach further achievements under the leadership of a new Party and State leaders."

Meanwhile, assessing Vietnam's success in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, Head of the French Communist Party Foreign Affairs Committee Lydia Samarbakhsh stated that Vietnam is one of the first countries affected by the pandemic. However, it is one of the countries with the lowest number of deaths in the world. After lessons learned from the SARS pandemic in 2003, Vietnam has prepared mechanisms and methods to handle the pandemic. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke in the country, Vietnam quickly made decisions and drastically implemented them. In addition, Vietnam is also transparent in the disease situation, which is important to allow the international community to evaluate the pandemic situation, allowing each government, country to be thoroughly prepared.

Assessing the challenges Vietnam is facing, Ms. Samarbakhsh noted that the challenge in the ecological transition, the fight against climate change must be taken into account. In addition, Vietnam should strive towards the goal to become a developed, high-income country by 2045. Vietnam should continue economic reforms, and facilitate foreign direct investment to promote economic growth.

Assessing bilateral relations in the coming time, Ms. Samarbakhsh said that France always wants to maintain friendly and cooperative relations with Vietnam. The French Communist Party will continue to contribute to the development and strengthening of partnerships between France and other countries in general, and Vietnam in particular.

Ms. Samarbakhsh emphasized: "I believe that the French government always considers Vietnam a friendly country, which promotes political and diplomatic exchanges between the two countries, as well as cooperation relations that we will continue to enhance together, especially cooperation between the two countries' localities."

As a politician who holds affection towards Vietnam, Mayor of Fleury Merogis in the Essonne region in northern France Olivier Corzani said that Vietnam was currently in the most dynamic and developing period. With Vietnam increasingly opening to the world, Mr. Corzani expressed his hope that the new leaders of Vietnam would continue to bring the country to further development, including promoting bilateral cooperation with France in many fields.
