Vietnam records 17 more imported Covid-19 patients, total rises to 1,094

17 Vietnamese people who recently returned from Russia have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,094, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday evening.

According to the ministry's report, the new patients included eight men and nine women aged between 19-55 who landed at Can Tho International Airport in the southern province of Can Tho on September 26.

They had been quarantined upon arrival at a facility in Bac Lieu Province.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam have increased to 403.

As of 6pm on September 29, a total of 1,007 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present,15,897 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
