Vietnam plays an important role in Japan’s foreign policy regarding the ASEAN

A Japanese Foreign Ministry official told the press on Friday that the Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide’s selection of Vietnam in his first overseas trip since taking office came from robust bilateral strategic partnership, Vietnam’s ASEAN Chair this year and its significant role in Japan’s foreign policy towards the ASEAN.

The Prime Minister is expected to make his commitment to peace and prosperity in the Indian Pacific Ocean and his support for the ASEAN Outlook on the Pacific and Indian Ocean. Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide and his spouse will visit Vietnam and Indonesia from October 18 to 21.
