lok sabha elections 2024: face of pm, developmental work to play key role in the way south indian will vote: etg survey
New Delhi: The face of prime minister will play a key role in the way the voters in South India will cast their vote, a survey by Times Now-ETG Research has revealed. As per the survey, 23 per cent of the voters are expected to exercise their franchise based on the face of PM post.
Nineteen per cent of those polled in the survey said they will cast vote based on the regional leaders while 17 per cent laid emphasis on MP’s face, the survey revealed. Development issue is also expected to play a key role in the Lok Sabha election with 17 per cent saying that the issue will play a key role when the cast vote.
Only seven per cent of the voters claimed laid emphasis on religion, the survey revealed.
Major issues like growth, inflation, nationalism and Hindutva are the major issues that will influence the 210 Lok Sabha seats in Southern India, as per the survey.
Unlike North India, unemployment, polarization and corruption are not expected to play bigger role in influenceing South Indian voters, the survey revealed. The survey predicted that only eight per cent of people believe unemployment and corruption are the main issues in the Lok Sabha polls, while polarization is the issue for only four per cent of voters.
If we talk about the latest ETG survey’s prediction for the southern states, the saffron party is expected to make gains in southern states including Tamil Nadu and Kerala where it did not win any seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
Survey For Karnataka:
There are a total of 28 seats in Karnataka in which, the BJP is likely to bag 47 per cent vote share, which comprises of 22-24 seats. Meanwhile, the ruling Congress is likely to secure 41 per cent vote share i.e. 3-5 seats. BJP’s ally JDS is expected to clinch one to two seats.
Survey For Tamil Nadu:
There are a total of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu. As per the survey, the INDIA bloc parties, including the Congress and the DMK, are likely to secure 31-33 seats. Meanwhile, the NDA is likely to clinch two to six seats. BJP’s former ally AIADMK is expected to win one to three seats, while others can win zero to two seats.
Survey For Kerala:
There are a total of 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala. As per the latest Times Now- ETG Survey, the BJP might open an account in the state where it failed to make inroads in the past few years. The Congress is likely to win eight to 10 seats. Congress’s ally IUML is expected to bag one to two seats. The CPM is likely to clinch six to eight seats, while others can bag zero to one seat.
Survey For Telangana:
There are a total of 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. NDA is likely to bag four to six seats which is almost the same as compared to the previous polls where the saffron party won four. The INDIA bloc is likely to increase its tally to eight to 10 seats from three. The BRS is likely to secure 1-3 seats while others can bag up to zero to two seats.
Survey For Andhra Pradesh:
There are a total of 25 seats in the state. In Andhra Pradesh, the ruling YSRCP can bag 19-20 seats, while the BJP’s allies TDP and Jana Sena can win three to four seats combined. The saffron party is likely to open its account this time in the state.
