Allison Homes is building 155 affordable homes in North Devon

Housebuilder Allison Homes South West has agreed a deal with housing provider Legal & General Affordable Homes to build 155 properties in North Devon.

The homes at the Willow Heights development, in Witheridge, will be made up of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses, along with two- and three-bedroom detached bungalows. The split of the homes will be 50% (78 homes) shared ownership, 27% (42 homes) available as affordable rent and 23% (35 homes) as social rent housing.

Allison Homes has also said it will provide almost £750,000 in financial contributions to support the local NHS; primary and secondary education; parks, sports, and recreation (including allotments and children’s play spaces); and improving local highways (roads and pavements). It will also donate £100 for each affordable home built to a chosen local charity.

Steve Fowler, managing director of Allison Homes South West, said: “This partnership aims to provide much-needed housing for the communities of North Devon by delivering high-quality homes. Our additional financial and charitable contributions to the area demonstrate our commitment to creating thriving communities.”

Ben Denton, chief executive of LGAH, added: “The UK is facing an unprecedented shortage of affordable housing. Our mission is to help tackle these inequalities and ensure everyone has the opportunity to access a high-quality place to call home.

“The 100% affordable scheme in Witheridge is a huge step in the right direction and, as well as offering more affordable options for renters, Willow Heights will provide an alternative route to homeownership for those who may have thought getting onto the property ladder was out of reach.”
