The late Jaclyn Jose is set to receive an award from the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

On social media, the national film council announced the veteran actress is the recipient of the Honorary Distinction Award at “Parangal ng Sining,” which will be held on April 19, 2024.

“Jose was widely known for her versatility and distinctive acting style which made her an icon in the Philippine film industry. Recognized by prestigious award-giving bodies for her outstanding body of work, she cemented her legacy as one of the most distinguished actresses in the country,” they wrote.

Born Mary Jane Guck, Jaclyn died on March 2 due to a heart attack. She was 60 years old.

Jaclyn’s daughter Andi Eigenmann revealed in a press conference that she died due to a heart attack.

In 2016, Jose won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for her mesmerizing performance in Brillante Mendoza’s “Ma’Rosa.” The organization also paid its respect to the actress.

Jose’s other notable performances include starring and supporting roles in films such as “The Flor Contemplacion Story” and “Patay Na Si Hesus.” She also starred in several GMA Network series, including “Marimar,” “The Millionaire’s Wife,” and “D’Originals.”

Celebrities and industry colleagues like Alden Richards mourned for the death of the award-winning actress and have paid tribute to her on social media.

Aside from Jaclyn, veteran actress Gloria Romero will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award “for being more than just a movie queen immortalized by landmark Filipino films cutting through decades of our popular culture and history.”
