Vestland: 43 new corona cases registered in the last 24 hours

A total of 43 people have been registered as infected with corona in Vestland county on Thursday. The infection trend is increasing.

Bergen, Sogndal, and Fitjar account for a large part of the increase. Bergen reported 26 new cases of infection on Thursday, according to the newspaper VG’s overview.

According to Bergen Municipality’s own overview, there were 24 new infected. Out of the total, 14 are close contacts, two are cases of imported infection, four have an unknown route of infection, and four have not yet been clarified.

“The infection numbers have been somewhat higher than we’d like in the last week, but we are working on infection tracing. The people of Bergen have been good with following the infection control measures during the pandemic, so once again, it is important to remember that we are still in a pandemic and that we must keep our distance, wash our hands, and stay at home if we are ill,” municipal chief physician Trond Egil Hansen noted.

New cases in Sogndal

Sogndal has registered ten new cases of infection in the last two weeks. During the same period, seven new cases have been registered in Fitjar.

In the last 24 hours, 14 people have tested positive for corona in four municipalities in Vestland, according to figures from Helse Førde.

The positive samples come from the municipalities of Sogndal, Luster, Stad, and Vik, according to the newspaper Fjordenes Tidende.

On Wednesday, two people who had been at the nightclub Meat Point in Sogndal last Saturday tested positive for corona. Everyone who was at the nightclub after 10 PM is encouraged to get tested.
