Expectations are always high at Kaizer Chiefs, and the bosses know. Reports say Amakhosi are chasing two Bafana Bafana stars.
BAFANA BAFANA STARS TO JOIN KAIZER CHIEFS?
As most of you have seen, Amakhosi had a dim first half of the 2023/24 season. The failure resulted in the exit of coach Molefi Ntseki.
Additionally, Bafana Bafana inspired the nation at Afcon 2023. The same tournament, which had zero Chiefs players in the South Africa team, inspired two transfer ambitions for Amakhosi.
According to iDiskiTimes, Chiefs are keen to sign the Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis, 22. The second target is midfielder Sphephelo Sithole, though it will be tough to prise him from Tondela in Portugal.
“After a great performance at the recent AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, Chiefs look to have revived their interest in chasing the services of Bafana Bafana midfield strongman Sphephelo ‘Yaya’ Sithole, who featured in all the South African national team matches in this tournament,” the outlet reported.
“Sithole, who currently plays for CD Tondela in the Portugal Liga 2, and has his contract expiring at the end of this season, is not short of offers, as reported by iDiski Times last week and confirmed by his agent.
“Another Bafana Bafana player from this AFCON squad, who has been linked with Chiefs, has been Polokwane City attacker Oswin Appollis, who was also instrumental in the Rise and Shine’s hard- fought 1-0 win over Moroka Swallows this past weekend,” the report added.
CAVIN JOHNSON UNHAPPY
Meanwhile, interim coach Johson was left unhappy last weekend. Chiefs delivered a dreary 0-0 draw with Royal AM at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
“I don’t know what I need to say,” Johnson said to SuperSport, as quoted by iDiskiTimes.
“Yes, we missed very big chances. I think we missed four one-on-ones, Ashley [Du Preez] had four times one-on-ones, he should have scored the goal. We didn’t get it. But did we play well today? No, I don’t think so. I am not happy with my performance as our team, I think our team is a lot better than what we showed today.

“Yes, their goalkeeper gets man of the match, ja, it tells you a lot, but as a tactician, as a guy who sits on the bench, and watching his team play, and watching what his team went through at training sessions, and how they can play, and how they can be more confident on the ball, ja, we didn’t see a lot of that.
“We didn’t see enough of that in order for us to, yes, we missed the chances, but we should have really, really won the game,” the Chiefs tactician concluded.
