Utilisation Certificate: Govt rejects CAG report claims
The state government has rejected the Comptroller and Auditor General report which alleges that the West Bengal government has not submitted Utilisation Certificate of different Central funds.
Chief Secretary Bhagwati Prasad Gopalika and Finance Secretary Manoj Panth, while addressing a joint press conference Friday in Nabanna said that “they are dismissing the CAG report as it has many discrepancies.”
“The state government does not accept the CAG report. A total of 8 departments have been mentioned and it talks about two lakh twenty-nine thousand crore rupees. There has been a misunderstanding. The 2021 report mentions 20 years, meaning it’s a 20-year calculation. We cross checked with eight departments, all submitted UC up to 2022,” Gopalika said. “If they were not getting UC for 20 years then why didn’t they say earlier… Its is a wrong report,” he further added.
