US NWS upgrades to high risk for sever weather outbreak
A major severe weather outbreak is forecast for today and tonight that according to the US National Weather Service where they’ve upgraded now to a high risk. The last time we had a high risk issued was May 31st of last year. the US National Weather Service is warning of multiple strong long track tornadoes for southern and central plains. Now that includes much of Oklahoma, the central and eastern sections of Kansas. All the ingredients are coming together and 1.7 million residents are actually under that high risk area with over 5 million residents under the enhanced risk for severe weather, high Cape, deep layer moisture fronts and dry line and deep through or low level jet. All of the ingredients enhancing the risk for severe weather today and not only the risk for strong long track tornadoes, but a high risk as well for very large to damaging hail, potentially golf balls. Size or base, both sides hail as well as damaging winds, potentially gusting up to 120 or more. In terms of a gust, that’s actually up to hurricane force gusts. the US National Weather Service is urging residents to review severe weather safety procedure for the possibility of dangerous weather.
