Work to transform historic West Lothian buildings into flats set to get underway
The renovation of three historic West Lothian buildings is set to begin after permission was granted from the council.
The buildings, located at the landmark redevelopment of Bangour Village near Dechmont, are set to be turned into 998 homes with Ambassador Group overseeing the specialised work.
The Daily Record reports that the project will include energy-efficient homes, a new primary school, and a community retail hub, all set among 215 acres of mature woodland.
The variety of houses will be including detached and semi-detached house types as well as townhouses and 20 per cent of the site will be dedicated to affordable housing. The three historic buildings are the original hospital wards on the site.

The work will be spread over the next year with specialist stone consultants carrying out the work overseeing the repairing of existing external walls, the installation of high-quality sash and case windows, and the use of red clay tiles and grey slates to replicate the appearance of the original roofs.
Ambassador Group intends to invest a total of £150 million in community benefits and infrastructure.
