The Uttar Pradesh police have detained a 16-year-old boy in Banda district after he posted several photographs of him holding a rifle on social media.
In the photos posted on social media, the teen boy was seen posing with a rifle. Many of his friends were seen commenting on his posts while many others demanded action for posting pictures on social media with the rifle.
According to police, the teen boy is a resident of Jari village in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district. He is a student of Class 11 standard.
ASP Laxmi Niwas Mishra said the boy was held after his photos with a rifle went viral on social media. He is now being questioned and further probe is underway, police said.
Last year, Delhi Police apprehended a man from South Delhi after he posted a picture of himself on WhatsApp brandishing a gun in front of his friends during Holi celebration.
Vinit, who is a school drop out, had posted a picture as a WhatsApp status on March last year, where he is seen posing with his three friends while holding a gun. Although the status was removed sometime later, however, its screenshot reached police through informers.
