University of Groningen receives donation for 50 extra PhD places

The UEF and the University of Groningen have entered into a five-year agreement to finance the programme. Every year it is decided to fund 10 PhD places for the Schools by the UEF. It is the first time that the UEF has awarded subsidies on this scale. The intended start of this program is 2023.

Four PhD positions

In 2022, the University of Groningen and the UEF will start a joint pilot for four PhD positions, one for each School. The pilot is used to gain experience on a limited scale with the process from application to award, payment and accountability.

The donation is managed by the Ubbo Emmius Fund. The fund ensures careful and correct spending, in accordance with the conditions set by the donor. The donation has been placed by the UEF in the M20 Fund.
