World’s oldest language Tamil is our pride: PM Modi
NEW DELHI: Espousing his ambition of “elevating Bharat as a global soft power”, PM Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that Thiruvalluvar cultural centres would be set up across the globe to showcase Bharat’s rich culture and offer training in Bharatiya languages and classical music. Naming the centres after the revered poet-philosopher is yet another outreach by Modi to Tamil Nadu.
Invoking the rich legacy of the Tamil language and tradition, Modi said, “We will build Thiruvalluvar cultural centres all over the world. The world’s oldest Tamil language is our pride. BJP will undertake every effort to enhance the global reputation of Tamil language.”
This is not the first time Modi has made a Tamil connection. His Tamil outreach was seen in France and the US, and back home through Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi or adopting the Sengol as a national symbol of ‘Amrit Kaal’ and installing it in the new Parliament House.
