dhruv jurel reveals reason behind his salute celebration after his maiden test fifty in ranchi
Dhruv Jurel led India’s revival on Day 3 of the fourth Test against England with a maiden fifty. He scored a valuable 90 to take India over 300 and put them back in the hunt on Friday in Ranchi. India were reeling at 219/7, being 134 runs behind at the start of the day’s play.
Jurel added 60 runs to his overnight score, bringing up his fifty along the way. As he completed his half-century, he made a salute to celebrate the milestone. After the end of the third day, the wicketkeeper-batter revealed the reason behind the gesture.
“My father was a Kargil war veteran, so my fifty celebrations, the salute was for him,” said Jurel.

Jurel scored 90 off 149 with 4 fours and 4 sixes. His innings was well complemented by Kuldeep Yadav, who scored a fighting 131-ball 28, to make sure that Jurel at the other end got as many runs as possible. Consequently, India got to a total of 507, reducing the deficit to 46 runs.
The pick of the bowlers for England was off-spinner Shoaib Bashir, who finished with figures of 5/119 in 44 overs. Left-arm orthodox spinner Tom Hartley bagged 3/68 in 27.2 overs.
England never quite got going in their second innings as they lost wickets at frequent intervals. Apart from opener Zak Crawley, who scored 60 off 91, none of the English batters went past a score of 30. They were bowled out for only 145 in 53.5 overs, setting a target of 192.
