Tallon Greek track has convincingly reached the second round of the Australian Open. The tennis player from Nieuw-Vennep beat the Italian Fabio Fognini in three sets (6-1, 6-4, 6-4), who is no less than thirty places higher than Greek poor in position 32 of the ATP ranking. It was the 29th victory (!) in a row for the Dutchman, who last lost on September 3.
Greek track played great at Court 6 of the Australian Open today. He took advantage of a quick break in the first set, which Fognini was unable to repair. A quick break in the second set was also sufficient. Greek track served excellently – he hit ten aces – was always better than the Italian on the crucial points. In the third set, a break in the ninth game (on love) was enough: 6-4.
After an hour and 46 minutes, he finished on his first game point, after a miss by Fognini, who had recently lost his serve with a love game. Greek track did not lose a single service game, hit eleven aces and was dominant in the rallies. The Dutchman did not let the flamboyant Italian, who is known for his excesses, get into the game for a moment. In the last game, Greek track lost the first point, but there was no shadow of a doubt. He took the win with four strong points. Fognini, the former number 9 in the world, reached the fourth round in Melbourne last year and in 2020.

The curtain fell for Arianne Hartono last night. But the debutante certainly did not stand a chance against the American Amanda Anisimova. Hartono even led 4-2 6-2, but was unable to manage it. Next night, Botic van de Zandschulp and Arantxa Rus will come into action.
In the second round, Pablo Carreno Busta will face Pablo Carreno Busta, who was placed 19th in Melbourne. The Spaniard dealt with the Argentine qualifier Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the first round without any problems: 6-1, 6-2, 7-6 (2).

In the run-up to the tournament there were doubts about the physical condition of Greek track. The Dutchman was struggling with a toe injury and was therefore unable to make the desired preparation. The injury prevented Greekpoor from playing against Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals a week and a half ago at a preparatory tournament in Melbourne.
The 25-year-old Greek track, who only managed to win a match at a grand slam at last year’s US Open, has now been unbeaten for 29 matches in a row. He finished the 2021 season with five titles in a row on the challenger circuit.
